LUCAS MARIA PODETSA POP ART ARTIST PHOTOGRAPHER ARCHITECTURE

LMP

After completing his studies in architecture at KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) in Karlsruhe, Lucas Maria Podesta intensified his exploration of the history of pop art and its diverse manifestations over the past decades. Contrary to the often very overloaded styles of today, he reflects on a more reduced combination of individual pop art elements from different periods.

His intention here is usually not to aggressively represent a political stance, but rather to subtly convey the elegance and beauty inherent in his “exclusively” female figures.

Using the aforementioned minimalist modes of representation, such as the combination of neon colors with black-and-white or gray-tone elements, he creates a contrast that emphasizes the sensuality of the representations and makes it easier for the viewer to perceive the actual essence of the figure.

In addition, he deepened his passion for photography and focuses mainly on capturing space in an urban context.

His series “Secret Views of Venice,” for example, deals specifically with the depiction of contrasting snapshots of inner-city situations far away from the crowded tourist trails, providing architectural insights that remain hidden from most visitors.

The focus here is not on the well-known sightseeing hotspots, but rather on playing with the contrasts of color, light, and shadow to reveal the hidden details and spaces that embody the true soul of Venice.
